Hey guys, it's Bank Holiday Monday, bet u guys in the Uk are still recovering from all the pre-parties and after parties for the CARNIVAL...and the celebrations continues today @ Notting Hill...bumping into old friends u havnt seen in one hot minute and hiding from those ones you still dont wanna c....lol! At least there are up to 4 more parties tonight, good luck to u guys going and waking up 4 work 2moz...probably will be worth it...ha! Lol!...anyhoo just to update u guys bout wots bin goin on and wots coming up all around the Nigerian circle...u know how we do...lol( I had too much coke so i'm kinda hyper typing this post!...by coke i mean soda oh abeg!!!)

Its bout time we profiled this dude who is making shock waves on the Naija R&B circuit!!! I really dont have too much info bout him but he is the latest signee to Don Jazzy's Mo'Hits records, making him label mates with D'banj! Hes featured on few songs off D'banj's upcoming LP on songs such as 'BOOTY' and 'MOVE YOUR BODY'. His vocal ability is straight up just undeniable...as heard on his solo offering "OLOLUFE" which is definitely the love song to have...forget "Oruka" and "Olo Mi" (Still great songs; don't get me wrong!) Seriously this is one helluva talent to look out 4 this year, I am even tempted to put up d song 4 u guys 2 download but i cant cos we have to start supporting home grown music...BUY THAT CD...LOL!!! so hit up his MySpace and u can listen to 'Ololufe' over and over again! yup its dat good!!!!

FELA Celebrations:
This year marks the 10th year anniversary of the death of the founder of Afro beat, Fela Kuti and it is being celebrated in Nigeria in a very big way. This event will celebrate his music, his life, and all the many truths he shared with his fans in his music. While there are several events planned around the world, by various organizations, to mark the 10-year anniversary of Fela's death, FELABRATION 10 will be the only one taking place in Nigeria, at the Shrine in Lagos, and hosted by the Kuti family. The event which has been tagged "FELABRATION 10" is a 5-day celebration from the 9th-16th of October 2007. The events scheduled include:
Tue October 9th: World Movie Premiere of the previously unreleased special movie of Fela "Suffering and Smiling" and Kick Off Party featuring celebrity DJ, Koffi.
Wed October 10th: Ladies Night. A day dedicated to the ladies to celebrate Fela featuring special performances by frontline Nigerian female artists such as Zeal, Sasha, Niyola, Asa.
Thursday October 11th: Classics and Yabis night featuring Veteran artists like Fatai Rolling Dollars and Victor Olaiya with ace comedians, Basket Mouth, Tee A and Julius Agwu. Friday October 12th: Featuring International hip hop artist, Nas as well as top Nigerian hip hop stars such as Mode 9, Ikechukwu, Naeto C, Thoroughbreds and Lord of Ajasa have already been confirmed to celebrate Fela, the hip hop way!
Saturday October 13th: Block Party. All roads lead to the Shrine for a Street Party featuring Damian Marley and most of the big names in Nigeria's music industry.
Sunday October 14th: Fashion for Fela by award winning designer, Deola Sagoe featuring International models Oluchi, Agbani and Nnenna amongst many others. This will be followed by special performances by Femi and Seun Kuti.
Monday October 15th: All day Free feeding at the Shrine by the United Nations World Food Project (UNWFP).
Tuesday October 16th: Music Business Conference. The conference will be held in honor of Fela with an aim to elevate the Nigerian music industry. The event will join major businesses, major players in the industry as well as International resource people. Issues such as piracy, distribution, broadcast, new technologies, international markets, regional markets, corporate support, the power of music to drive youth marketing and brands will be dealt with.

In other Kuti news,Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, added a new addition to his family. The baby boy named Adewale Abdulrasak Ayomide Anikulapo-Kuti was delivered by Bisi Ajala, daughter of the late Lagos socialite, Olabisi Ajala.

President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on Friday ordered the immediate stoppage of the Naira redenomination policy announced last week by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Finally sumone seems to be listening AND doing sumthin about our aviation problems in naija...Old aircrafts(20 and 30 yrs) would be grounded by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority(NCAA)the end of this month *La gbara olorun* *Insha allah* *Chineke ma imela* !!! Airlines caught with old planes after the deadline will be denied their services as the reason for this is to clean up the system and reposition it for safety.

Sunday 25th of March,Nigeria will join the rest of the world to celebrate 200 years of the abolition of slave trade.Now although slavery in it's purest form may have being "abolished" we still have all the subtle forms happening around the world..may God help us and may we help ourselves too.

7 students have gone missing in 2 weeks at Adekunle Ajasin University and there are fears that they may have been used in ritual killings.Last week, four male students of the school were allegedly kidnapped by some men suspected to be ritualists when they offered the missing students free ride in their cars.The four students, according to a student, who sought for anonymity, were giving free ride by the suspected ritualists after the students had finished lectures around 5pm.
According to the source, the four students have not been seen since then.While the university was still trying the unravel this mystery, three female students got missing..

If lyk me,the word vintage brings to mind rifling thru rails in a charity shop...then you definitely know that skin crawling feeling "we" get or the images of "witchcraft being passed thru sum louboutins" ;-) you see, but this fabulous writer Funmi who is a Fashion expert and Journalist(She compiled the weekly "Stella Loves" pages in Stella Magazine at the Sunday Telegraph and has written for some of the world's most glamourous fashion publications including Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and InStyle)...sets about dispelling our fears in this new book on how to get vintage without walking into a charity shop...HOW???And have we said how proud we are that she's Nigerian yet?!?!?!

Born in London to a Nigerian father and a British/Jewish mother,Sophie is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with in the film industry and although she might be relatively new to some of us,she could be called a seasoned actress since she's been acting for almost 20 years now.Her touching turn as a sympathetic prostitute in "Dirty Pretty Things" also starring Chiwetel,was what proved to be her breakout role in film.Her performance in the movie made Terry George cast her in "Hotel Rwanda" which garnered critical acclaim and numerous nominations and awards.She also had a role in "Aeon Flux" with Charlize Theron,even though it wasnt the best film ever,she still held her own.And her recent turn in "Tsunami: The Aftermath" was very moving leading to more awards for her.




CHITEWEL EJIOFOR



Chiwetel Ejiofor is a 33 year old award-winning British film and stage actor who certainly doesnt need much introduction based on the simple fact that he actually is a great actor,he is able to switch from the baddie to the guy who clutches at your heart strings seamlessly.He has pretty much worked with all the heavy weights in the film industry on both sides of the pond--Steven Spielberg's 1997 film "Amistad",Spike Lee's "Inside Man" with Denzel,Joss Whedon's cult sci-fi "Serenity",Richard Curtis' "Love Actually",Julian Jarrold's "Kinky Boots" in which he plays a transvestite...no really!,Stephen Frears's "Dirty Pretty Things", Woody Allen's "Melinda & Melinda" and his fantastic turn in John Singleton's "Four Brothers"...PHEW!!!




Ejiofor's performance in Tsunami:The Aftermath received a 2007 Golden Globe nomination for Best actor in a mini-series or film made for TV.He is currently performing on stage in The Seagull at the Royal Court Theatre from 18 January to 17 March 2007.


CARMEN EJOGO



A beautiful British actress of biracial heritage(Scottish mother and a Nigerian father),Carmen Ejogo began her career as a child appearing in a music video at age eight.She did loads of stage and tv work and had stints as a TV host and veejay before she got the role of Eddie Murphy's love interest in the predictable action comedy "Metro"(1997).2000 proved to be her year when she got the coveted title role in the four-hour CBS miniseries "Sally Hemmings: An American Scandal" and garnered good notices for her portrayal of the slave with whom Thomas Jefferson carried on a four decade romance and later that year,she appeared in Kenneth Branagh's "Love's Labour's Lost".




Carmen hasnt really appeared much on screen since she met her future husband Jeffrey Wright when they were cast opposite one another as Coretta Scott King and Martin Luther King Jr. in the 2001 HBO drama "Boycott" and they have one son together now,Elijah.

24 year old Megalyn Ann Echikunwoke is an American actress(Dad was Nigerian and Mum is a Caucasian American) known for playing Nicole Palmer in the first season of 24 and the adult Isabelle Tyler in The 4400.She has had guest roles in shows like The Steve Harvey Show,Boston Public,ER,What I Like About You,Buffy the Vampire Slayer, That 70's Show,Veronica Mars and most recently,Supernatural.She was discovered aged 14 while performing in an arts academy summer camp play and thus began her long distance relationship with Hollywood.



Echikunwoke means "leader of men" and for some reason i'm glad she didnt adopt another name and kept her Nigerian name.
