NEWS CORNER:
The Lagos State government recently flagged off a scheme tagged Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) with which it hopes to tackle the perennial traffic congestion on Lagos roads. The scheme, in its first phase, will feature 200 40-seater, mass transit Marcopolo buses plying yellow lined, dedicated lanes from Berger Bus Stop on the outskirts of Lagos through Alapere, Oworonshoki, the Third Mainland Bridge and Obalende to the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) on Lagos Island.It is operated by the Lagos Bus Service (LAGBUS) Assets Management Limited and commuters are expected to purchase tickets for rides on these buses in advance. A BRT bus is expected to take off every five minutes. No other vehicles are allowed to drive on the BRT dedicated lanes and a contravention of the law prohibiting this attracts a fine of N50,000. Already, some 15 vehicles are said to have been seized for contravening the BRT law.

Ahead the April polls, The End Time Prophetic Prayer Network dedicated to offering prayers for peaceful general elections is shopping for the sum of N5 million to enable it organise the Seventh Annual South-South Prayer Conference scheduled for Port Harcourt in March, this year.The national coordinator of the network, Rev. Godswill E.D Jumbo disclosed this in an interview with newsmen at the end of a pre conference fund raising ceremony last week in Port Harcourt.Rev. Jumbo said that the money would be used by the body to print its conference materials, payments for advertorials both in television, radio and newspapers, provision of accommodation for delegates as well as payment of venue for the conference, others are provision of transport facilities for delegates, feeding and others.

As part of efforts to mark the World Optometry Day, the Nigerian Optometry Association (NOA) has mapped out strategies to carry out free eye examination yesterday in all the clinics in the federation.This year’s celebration, with the theme, “vision and safety on our roads”, will attract free vision screening for drivers at the motor parks as well as free examination in all clinics in Nigeria.

For the first time in the history of wresting in the country, top rated wrestlers from both the World Wresting Entertainment (WWE) and English Wrestling Federation will storm some selected Nigerian cities for a championship tagged “Wrestling for Peace and Unity in Nigeria”.Some of the wrestlers that will feature in the bouts across the country include Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Barbarian, The Rock and The Stinger. Others include Pitbull Johnson, Mighty Mia, Jade, Dwayne Douglas Johnson and Steve Manelli. They will be joined by Nigerian wrestlers like De Ultimate Commander, Nigeria’s reigning Heavyweight Champion and Jimmy Palm, among others.he championship, which will take place in April and August 2007.

So if u r a model-dancer that will definitely be able to be in town for to audition next week, and then to shoot the video that weekend,(woteva d race myt be). African Movies Academy Awards:

SO U THINK U CAN DANCE?(African version):

Channel O is launchin a dance show designed to provide a platform for talented dancers called Dance Africa; a contest to find the most original freestyle dancer on the continent. The show kicks off with preliminary rounds in seven African cities. Two dancers from each city will be selected to compete in the finals in Johannesburg at a later stage where the 14 finalists will battle it out until only one remains to be crowned Africa's ultimate freestyle dancer. All dance hopefuls will have to compete head to head at the seven cities in front of a panel of judges comprising of Angelo Collins the choreographer, local musicians and DJs. The seven cities where auditions will be held are Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Maputo, Nairobi, Lusaka and Lagos. The competition is open to amateurs only and all competitors are welcome to come to any of these cities for auditions.
Audition Dates:
Lagos: Friday 16 March at Saga VIII - cover charge: VIP - 3000 Naira: 23 Dollars - Standard- 2000 Naira: 16 Dollars

Yeah saw those BRT buses on the news when I was in Naija..now the yellow lines on 3rd mainland bridge make a whole load of sense.

Totally loved the 1st HipHop World Awards..watched it on Ben..All the props to Ayo Animashun and his crew.
Derenle is a totally different case..he is what i'd call "NUTS BUT LOVELY".
AY is actually quite funny...would love 2 go for this...his impressions of Naija pastors is hilarious.
